About the role

As a Digital Analyst in our Workplace Systems team you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing our existing Google Apps Script (GAS) applications, which are used to automate tasks and improve efficiency across the organisation. 

Your work will involve a range of projects utilising Advanced Google Apps Manager (GAMADV-XTD3), GAS, and Google AppSheet. We are looking for someone who can:

  • Develop custom logic using GAS to automate tasks, integrate with third-party systems and databases, and extend the functionality of AppSheet applications
  • Write clean and efficient GAS code to extend AppSheet functionalities and integrate with other Google Workspace tools
  • Configure and maintain Google Workspace settings, including security controls, access permissions, and data compliance
  • Utilise GAMADV-XTD3 for automation of user creation and management, group management, and licence assignment
  • Develop and implement GAMADV-XTD3 scripts to streamline administrative workflows
  • Experience working with cloud-based data warehousing solutions (preferably Google BigQuery)
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders to establish best practices in service management.


About you

We don’t expect you to tick every box on our job description. The most important things that we are looking for are:

  • Expertise in Google Admin Console and Advanced Google Apps Manager (GAMADV-XTD3)
  • Ability to develop applications using GAS
  • In-depth knowledge of Google Workspace applications (Gmail, Drive, Sheets, Forms, Calendar etc), as well as Google Cloud Platform concepts and services, such as Cloud Functions and App Engine
  • Understanding of SQL and relational databases
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies (ie Scrum, Kanban) and their practical application
  • Strong understanding of security principles and best practices for cloud-based collaboration tools
  • Experience scripting with a language like Python or JavaScript.


About the team

You will be part of a large team of digital analysts and engineers in Colleague Experience, who support a wide range of systems, networks, infrastructure and equipment that is critical to the successful functioning of an array of digital services that are relied upon by both staff members and residents.

Our priorities

Over the next year the team’s areas of focus will be:

  • Expanding the use of GAMADV-XTD3 for automation, outside of traditional ICT functions, so that it can support the council’s broader goals and objectives
  • Continuing to develop, maintain and enhance existing Google Apps Script applications.

Where we work

We offer hybrid working. You will be expected to come into our offices in the Hackney Service Centre to work with your team for a minimum of two days a month, however many of us prefer to come in more frequently. Like many organisations, our hybrid arrangements are evolving and you may be expected to work from the office more frequently in future.
