Hackney is one of Britain’s most exciting and fastest-changing boroughs. We have changed the reputation, not just of the Council, but of Hackney itself. The Internal Audit Team is at the forefront of protecting the Council and its hard-won reputation for good governance and effective internal control. We are looking for a self-motivated and effective team player with strong analytical skills and an ability to interpret complex information. The ideal applicant will have excellent communications skills (verbal and written) and the credibility and confidence to influence Chief Officers and ensure that recommendations arising from audits are agreed and implemented.

Under the leadership of the Internal Audit Manager, you will contribute to the overall effectiveness of the service by undertaking complex audit engagements across all Council activities. As a senior member of the team you will be committed to further improving the Council’s internal control environment and play a vital role in delivering the Internal Audit service.

You will work closely with other highly skilled professionals and internal partners and have a sound knowledge of the Public Sector Internal Audit Standards and other relevant legislation and guidance.

You must have a relevant qualification combined with substantial experience in carrying out internal audit work in the public sector. An enhanced DBS check is required.
