Part time – 18 hour per week (x 2 posts)
Our Libraries division offers a range of services to residents, including well-stocked adult and children’s sections, PCs and Wi-Fi access, information and reference e-resources, audio and e-books and a regular variety of activities and events for the whole community.
You will be responsible for opening and closing the site, supervising staff and ensuring there is adequate staff cover. You will be expected to resolve customer queries and complaints efficiently and your calm, confident, assertive manner and personable approach will give you the ability to engage and work with a diverse community of customers with different needs.
You will also be expected to promote services available within the library, including planning, arranging and delivering events, activities, story times, reading groups and class visits.
You will have gained experience working in a customer-focussed environment, preferably in a library setting. You must have a demonstrable commitment to customer care, good ICT skills, an aptitude for coaching customers and staff, excellent literacy, numerical and verbal skills, be confident keeping cash records, a love of libraries and reading and preferably a knowledge of the key issues affecting the library sector. You must be able to work regular weekends, working as part of a rota system.
