Hackney Council is passionate about its Sustainability and Environmental Services, and committed to continue to maintain and enhance its public realm and estates, as well as putting in measures to help address the climate emergency in both the short term and into the future. This is an exciting time to join the newly restructured Sustainability & Environmental Services Team and contribute to our ambitions, and as the Senior Administrator you will be supporting our work to make Hackney cleaner, safer and greener.
You will be working in the busy Millfields Depot providing crucial administrative and service development support to our front line services, which include refuse, recycling, street cleansing, and a number of ancillary services such as graffiti, bulky waste, winter gritting and gully cleansing.
Following a restructure, the role of Senior Administrator is a new permanent position in the service, and as such you will be responsible for a small team of administrators. Key responsibilities include liaising directly with service managers, crews and the transport team on operational issues, including scheduling of work, maintaining contact with operational crews during the shift, and ensuring all IT systems are fully operational and developed. At the heart of this role is the responsibility for investigating service issues, for providing written responses to stakeholders, and for providing and maintaining detailed service data and statistical information, as well as the provision of management reports.
As such you should have excellent written communication skills as well as being a confident communicator as you will be liaising with a wide variety of audiences, including Council departments like waste, planning and parking, as well as with councillors, residents, tenants and contractors. You will be able to use a variety of IT packages and be methodical and accurate in your work.
You will be highly computer literate and competent with business support systems, and be able to demonstrate excellent experience of statistical analysis and performance reporting. You should also be able to evidence the delivery of high quality customer focussed services.
You will need to be available to work flexible hours to ensure there is support available to the service as necessary, including some out of hours work and / or at weekends.
We are looking for a highly driven Senior Administrator who can work under pressure, has excellent organisational and motivational skills and who has the ability to adapt services to meet the needs of our customers. Whilst it’s desirable to have experience working in a front line service, we are also really keen to hear from people who are able to demonstrate relevant and comparable experience. If you fit this description, then please apply for the position of Senior Administrator.
