About the team

Product teams at Hackney are part of the council’s integrated Customer Services, Digital & Data service. These multidisciplinary teams are made up of business analysts, content designers, delivery managers, digital analysts, interaction designers, product managers, project/ programme managers, user researchers, service designers, and software engineers.

What we do

Our vision is to provide user-centred digital products that enable residents to quickly and efficiently access the services they need and inspire confidence in the council. 

We design, test, implement and iterate products relied upon by thousands of internal users, as well as for nearly 280,000 residents. We also manage over 50 contracts for digital and technology services with third party suppliers

About the role

We are recruiting for two roles, one in the Housing product team, which supports work to improve:

  • Building maintenance and estate environment  
  • Resident safety 
  • Housing transformation
  • Property and asset management
  • Tenancy and leasehold services.


And another in the Liveable Hackney team, which supports a range of digital products and systems which help improve the day to day lives of residents, and are used by staff in the council’s Sustainability & Public Realm teams.

As a Senior Delivery Manager at Hackney, will be responsible for creating an environment in which a multi disciplinary team can deliver value effectively, in addition to line managing and mentoring less experienced colleagues.

To do this you will:

  • Ensure teams have a solid understanding of agile ways of working 
  • Manage the rhythms and rituals of a multidisciplinary team, helping colleagues collaborate, communicate and learn throughout delivery
  • Suggest new and innovative ways of delivering services that provide high quality and good value for money.


About you

We don’t expect you to tick every box on our job description. This role will suit you if you:

  • Enjoy coming up with new and innovative approaches to solving problems
  • Have proven track record as a Delivery Manager, or Senior Delivery Manager
  • Are passionate about coaching and helping others
  • Can work in a fast-paced environment, as part of a diverse team.

  • Improving and stabilising our existing in-house developed products
  • Improving the quality of our data in order to provide an improved experience for our users
  • Supporting the Housing service to transition to a new Housing management system and implementing any required integrations with our existing systems

Where we work

We offer hybrid working. You will be expected to come into our offices in the Hackney Service Centre to work with your team for a minimum of two days a month, however many of us prefer to come in more frequently. Like many organisations, our hybrid arrangements are evolving and you may be expected to work from the office more frequently in future.
