ServicePolicy & Strategic Delivery
Contract TypePermanent - Full Time
Do you want to lead strategic responses to some of the biggest challenges in Hackney today? Policy and Strategic Delivery is a new integrated service that leads on policy and strategy, supporting the strategic delivery of cross cutting corporate programmes and Manifesto commitments and advising on change and transformation.
We help create the right environment for partnership working, lead on voluntary sector strategy and support, and create the frameworks and tools to ensure that equality is embedded into service design and delivery. The Service leads on tackling some of the most intractable priority issues in the borough, including poverty reduction, tackling key inequalities shaping an inclusive economy and sustainability.
As one of the service’s new Strategic Delivery Managers you will take a lead role in developing and delivering responses to one or more of our cross cutting priority issues. You will also manage delivery of some of the wider service functions, for example developing our evidence base, leading strategic partnership working, managing voluntary sector support or embedding equality.
With a collaborative, supportive and inclusive leadership style, and potential for further growth, you will build a high level of professional credibility, in order to work effectively with colleagues across the Council, Members and partner organisations, and also as a line manager.
You will draw on excellent strategic, analytic and policy research skills, sound project management approaches and will have some experience of co-production and culture change and transformation. You will need to be flexible and adaptable and able to work on a number of different areas of work at any one time and work to a number of sponsors or senior officers.
If you would like an informal conversation about the role, please contact Sonia Khan, Head of Policy and Strategic Delivery via email@example.com with the subject line “Strategic Delivery Manager Query” for further information.
Hackney is one of the UK’s highest performing local authorities, serving one of London’s best places to live and work. We have achieved a huge amount: our services, our schools, our public spaces are all amongst the very best. We have changed the reputation, not just of the Council, but of Hackney itself. Bringing jobs and investment into the borough, securing the legacy from the 2012 Games, and making this a place of which we can all be proud.
When applying, there will be a number of questions relating to the post on the application form. It is essential that you complete the application questions, responding to each using examples of your skills, knowledge and experience. You are not required to submit a supporting statement or CV.
Closing date for applications: 02 February 2020
Interviews: 17 February 2020
We are also working towards our vision, which is to be a place for everyone; where residents and staff can be proud; a place that celebrates diversity and where everyone can feel valued, included and involved. In order to achieve this, we look for people who are: Proud; Ambitious; Pioneering; Open; Proactive; Inclusive.
Hackney Council works to eradicate discrimination on the basis of race, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, pregnancy and maternity, age and marital status. We also recognise that people can be disadvantaged by their social and economic circumstances, so we will also work to eliminate discrimination and disadvantage caused by social class. We also welcome those interested in flexible working. We particularly welcome applications from disabled people, as this group is currently under represented in our workforce.
