Hackney Council’s Award Winning Supported Employment Team provides a tailored service supporting residents, with disabilities and health conditions, to access a diverse range of employment opportunities. As well as leading on this high profile council priority, the role of Supported Employment Team Leader will be to further develop this offer, whilst driving performance. 

This is a multi-faceted role offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced Supported Employment Manager or Senior Supported Employment Advisor, to develop leadership experience, so as to further develop their career in a dynamic high performing team, within the Council’s Employment & Skills Service.

As Supported Employment Team Leader, your role will be to develop links with local organisations, employers, as well as statutory and voluntary agencies to identify job opportunities for Hackney residents with disabilities and health conditions.

You will also work closely with the Adult Social Care and Community Mental Health teams, maintaining effective communication with all stakeholders, to ensure referrals are processed timeously; whilst creatively leading a team of Supported Employment Advisors to achieve high performance.  The post holder will also be expected to adapt their leadership style to provide holistic support to a team of Advisors, adapting their roles and grappling with change during this time of global upheaval. The role involves securing a plethora of opportunities, with a focus on competitive employment for marginalised groups, as well as further developing the digital service, to promote Supported Employment opportunities and progress the online offer.

Previous experience of working with people with mental health conditions, learning disabilities and autism is also required, along with an excellent working knowledge of the IPS/ Supported Employment models.

This role will require creativity, innovation and the ability to be responsive to the changing employment market, as a result of Covid 19. Moreover, it is essential that the post holder is confident in reshaping the service to adapt to the current climate.
