24 Months Fixed Term Contract / Secondment Opportunity

We are looking for an organised and self-motivated individual to join our Networks Team based in Hackney Central.

Reporting to the Senior Engineer, and working as part of a busy, friendly team, you will ensure that the Council’s obligations under the Road Traffic regulation Act 1984, Traffic Management Act 2004. Duties will include, but not limited to, managing the full lifecycle of Permanent Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs), ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and internal procedures. This includes assessing and approving applications, reviewing plans/maps of restrictions, and coordinating with stakeholders such as other internal officers and departments, contractors, emergency services, and relevant organisations. The role involves reviewing applications and plans that make permanent changes to the public highway.

Ideally, you will already have a good working knowledge of all current legislation and a methodical approach which enables you to undertake your work effectively and efficiently. Experience working in a similar fast-paced environment would be an advantage.

Competent IT user, with good working knowledge of a range of packages including Google Docs & Sheets, Microsoft Word and Excel and mapping systems like Traffweb or Park Map. You will be customer focused and possess excellent communications skills.
