In Hackney we take great pride in delivering high-quality core services to residents; clean streets, environmental operations, well-maintained parks and green spaces, leisure facilities and libraries to name a few – these are the services and spaces that all our residents use. But we also know that our residents experience living in Hackney very differently and we have work to do to tackle inequality across our borough.
As a Council, we need to keep supporting residents on their life journeys, from early years, through to adult social care, and ensure we are there for our most vulnerable residents. This means, in some places, we need to push the boundaries of what local government can achieve. Acting on our values of being inclusive, pioneering and ambitious is how we tackle racism and inequality, the climate emergency, our challenges with housing and of course, the continued cost of living crisis. And this is all against the backdrop of the increased financial pressures on local governments across the country, where persistent annual savings are required.
We know that some of our services are amongst the best and most innovative in London. But we also know there are some areas where we can deliver better services for our most vulnerable residents.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact. We know that to deliver real, long-term change and transformation for residents, we need teams of talented, innovative and forward-thinking professionals to help us achieve this.
We are on a programme of change which will see us working together as one Council to ensure we are:
- Putting residents first by providing for the people who live and work in Hackney.
- Securing Hackney’s future by maintaining financial stability and investing in what matters most.
- Changing together by acting as one Council. Modernised, flexible, collaborative and skilled to meet our future challenges.
Hackney is resilient. We have a firm foundation on which we can tackle the challenges we face. It is now time for us to take action on the areas we know we can do better and evolve together to become more effective for our residents and sustainable for the future. We will do this by working together, to build a better Council.
We are recruiting eight roles within the Corporate Transformation Team. We are looking for delivery managers, business analysts, a service designer and a user researcher.
If this is an opportunity that is of interest, and you have the skills and ambition to make a real difference to Hackney residents and our staff network, we would love to hear from you.
