Leadership Roles Climate, Homes & Economy

Leadership Roles – Climate, Homes & Economy

  • Divisional Head of Tenancy Services – SM2
  • Divisional Head of Building Maintenance – SM2

Housing remains central to the Council’s vision for a fairer, safer, and more sustainable Hackney. We are in the process of developing our new housing strategy for 2023 onwards, so our two new colleagues are joining us at a pertinent time.

You will be able to support the finer detail around the development of that new strategy and of course play a key role in its delivery. Despite the challenging external environment, we have been making good progress across the directorate. We are continuing to modernise housing and property services to ensure we can deliver effective and community-based services.

Plans to grow our DLO will help with further improvements to repairs, as will the focus on customer care as we seek to improve our income collection. While safe, stable and affordable homes are not available to everyone, we will continue to work hard to play a crucial role in tackling the housing crisis in Hackney.

Tenancy Services – covers all aspects of tenancy services, including income collection and resident engagement

Building Maintenance – covers day to day repairs (but not asset management), with a large and growing DLO, including estate services These two roles are set to make a huge impact at one of the most exciting, diverse and dynamic Borough’s in the Capital.

For both roles we are seeking people who have a background in social housing. You will need to provide assurance on being able to work at scale, be a highly effective leader of multi-disciplined teams and be able to support a culture that places a high premium upon performance management and a positive and responsive customer experience.

The vacancies have arisen through natural turnover, so it is a unique opportunity for two new people in these key strategic/operational oversight roles to join at the same time. Bringing energy and fresh perspectives, at the same time as being assured that there is significant support from an experienced strategic director, CE and Cabinet, in an environment where expectations for the housing portfolio are both ambitious and realistic. Hackney is an aspirational and creative place.
