Give as You Earn

  • Do you give to charities or sponsor colleagues at work
  • Did you know that Hackney offers a Give As You Earn scheme, run by the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF)?
  • Did you know that if you use Give As You Earn, you don’t pay tax on donations you make?

Through this scheme, you can give to any one of thousands of charities directly through your pay. The gift is deducted from your pay before tax is taken off, which means it costs you less. A £100 gift to charity costs basic rate taxpayers £80 from their net pay, and higher rate taxpayers just £60. More information on tax savings is here on the CAF website.

For more information on this scheme, visit the Give as You Earn page here.

Carers & Parents

A growing number of people are playing a dual role in balancing their jobs with their caring responsibilities. Here, we define a carer as someone who helps or looks after a family member or friend who needs care and support as a result of old age, physical illness, disability, mental health problems or addiction.  Carers can keep families together and can help others to have a better quality of life.  For many carers, looking after a loved one is an important and valued part of their lives, however, it can be challenging to combine work and care.  This can compromise their well-being and the well-being of the person they are caring for.

For more information on how Hackney Council supports Carers and Parents please email HR at hrgeneralenquiries@hackney.gov.uk
