Hackney is one of the most dynamic and progressive local authorities in the UK. We are a resilient and creative borough in the heart of London, with strong, diverse communities and a powerful set of shared values.
Over the past twenty years, the Council has built up first-class services, outstanding public infrastructure, and a reputation for excellence, innovation, and ambition. We are leading the way on essential work such as our fight for equity in Hackney with a particular focus on becoming an actively anti-racist borough. But the work doesn’t stop there, we are proactive in our approach to bringing fairness to all aspects of life including gender, neurodiversity and across the poverty divide.
Hackney is a vibrant and exciting borough to live and work, and like many councils we have challenges as well as ambitious plans for the future. This requires our HR & OD service to provide agile, targeted and excellent support to enable Directorates to deliver.
Our aim is to transform the way we work within the HR & OD service, supporting our organisation to build a resilient, inclusive, healthy, capable and sustainable organisation where:
- employees feel valued, supported and fully able to contribute
- employees have a sense of belonging
- the organisation is resilient and able to quickly adapt to changes in the internal and external environment.
The OD&EE Team of is focused on supporting Hackney’s mission to make Hackney a place for everyone, where all our residents, whatever their background, have a chance to lead healthy and successful lives; a place where everyone can be proud, with excellent services, thriving businesses, and outstanding public spaces; a place where everyone feels valued and can make their voice heard.
You will be joining Hackney Council at a key time, where you will be encouraged to help enable our service to support our Directorates in meeting the needs of our residents. You will be delivering on key aspects of the People & OD Strategy and you will be working closely with other members of the team to deliver on the objectives of our strategy.
This is an exciting time to join our OD & Employee Experience team. You will be responsible for leading the council-led mid-career apprenticeship programmes, providing pastoral support to apprentices, and supporting the OD&EE team with people development initiatives.
You will monitor apprentices’ progress, supporting them and their line managers to understand their learning gaps and helping them align with suitable learning initiatives either through apprenticeships or by signposting them to other learning initiatives.
Your supplier management skills will be required to liaise with training providers to ensure that apprentices are enrolled in courses promptly and that all necessary paperwork including apprenticeship agreements and learner contracts is complete.
Gathering regular updates from training providers including apprentice progress reviews, resolving issues, or signposting where appropriate – you will maintain an overview of any management issues, liaising with managers, HR and OD, and other council services to ensure that any areas of concern or personal needs are quickly addressed to support placements being sustained.
If you have experience in successfully providing a range of Organisational Development Services at both strategic and operational levels, understanding the business and implications involved, and then providing practical OD support, then we would like to hear from you.
As a Council, our most outstanding asset is our staff, who are highly dedicated to serving our residents and committed to our goals as an organisation.
