We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Electoral Registration Manager to lead our electoral registration service. This is a key role leading & managing the electoral registration function for the borough of Hackney, ensuring full compliance with all relevant electoral legislation and guidance.
The Electoral Registration Manager is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of electoral registration including the annual canvass, rolling registration and postal vote renewals. The successful candidate will also lead on outreach work around voter registration as well as the necessary system and process changes required for future legislative changes such as Votes at 16.
You will need to be ready to meet the challenges that come with a highly mobile and diverse electorate.
The successful candidate will:
- Have the Association of Electoral Administrators Certificate (or Diploma) in Electoral Administration
- Have extensive experience of all aspects of the electoral registration process and relevant legislation, including canvass and IER
- Ideally have knowledge of the Xpress electoral management system
- Have the skills to lead work and a small team
- Be resident focused and be confident and skilled in dealing with residents, elected members and agents face to face as well as via telephone and in writing
- Work to high standards of accuracy and set the same standards for the team
- Be organised, and competent in project management and delivery
- Deputise for the Electoral Services Manager as required
- Undoubtedly be a team player
- Be flexible and prepared to work additional hours, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays with restrictions on annual leave during elections and peak canvass periods
