Are you passionate about making a positive difference in someone’s life? Hackney Shared Lives is looking for dedicated, compassionate individuals to join our growing network of self-employed carers.

As a Shared Lives carer, you will offer support and a safe, welcoming home to people with a range of needs. Whether it’s helping someone with learning disabilities, mental health challenges, or care leavers starting their independent lives, you’ll be part of a service that truly makes a difference. Depending on your living arrangements, you could offer long-term accommodation to someone in need, or provide short breaks (respite) to allow others a temporary home. Don’t have a spare room? No problem! As long as you can use your home as a base, you can provide day support, offering flexibility to suit your space and lifestyle.

Why become a Shared Lives carer?

  • Enjoy a Steady Income: Receive a regular fee for each person you support, giving you financial stability while making a difference.
  • Flexibility for You and Your Family: Manage your own schedule and work from home, making it easier to balance your personal life with your caring responsibilities.
  • An Enriching Way of Life: Build meaningful relationships and provide a supportive environment for someone to thrive.
  • Breaks and Time Off: As a self-employed carer, you’re in control of your own schedule. Take breaks when you need them and plan time off around your life.
  • Generous Tax Breaks: Keep more of the money you earn with the tax breaks available to self-employed carers.

Who are we looking for?

  • Kind, patient, and empathetic individuals.
  • People who are good at building relationships and creating a supportive home environment.
  • Those with a willingness to learn and a passion for helping others.

If you’re ready to make a real difference and join a welcoming and supportive community, we want to hear from you!
