Keep Hackney’s markets moving. Make every stall count.

From the bustle of Ridley Road to the charm of Broadway and Hoxton, Hackney’s markets are where local identity meets global flavour — and where micro-enterprises become tomorrow’s success stories. As our Markets Manager, you’ll be right at the centre of this dynamic mix, making sure everything runs smoothly, safely, and with pride. You will be required to work Every Saturdays & Two Sundays per Month

You’ll be the face of frontline delivery, leading our Senior Officers, supporting traders, resolving challenges in real time, and keeping standards high — not from behind a desk, but out there on the ground, where the energy is real. Every stall you fill and every issue you solve builds Hackney’s reputation as one of the UK’s most vibrant, inclusive and forward-thinking boroughs.

This is your chance to shape the future of Hackney’s iconic markets, support hundreds of small businesses, and play a lead role in the borough’s ongoing economic and cultural success.

The Role

Hackney’s markets are some of London’s most iconic — from the legendary Ridley Road to the indie cool of Broadway Market. As Markets Manager, you’ll take the lead on making them run like clockwork, ensuring every stall is trading, every regulation is met, and every visitor feels part of something special.

You’ll lead the daily delivery of Hackney’s street trading operations, oversee a team of officers, and ensure licensing, compliance, trader performance and customer experience are always top-notch. You’ll also play a hands-on role — spending at least half your working week on the ground, engaging with traders, resolving issues, and helping new businesses thrive.

With every pitch sale and every successful weekend, you’ll be growing the borough’s inclusive economy and making Hackney’s streets buzz with energy.
