Hackney Museum uses its collections to create a trusted space to engage and empower local communities to tell their stories, share their concerns, and understand how their experiences fit alongside others’. 

The new role of Museum Learning Producer, is focused on the development of the learning programmes that respond to Hackney Museum’s collections and exhibitions. This involves active engagement with local stakeholders to build on the established services. Experience of working in a museum of heritage learning environment is essential to build on our core programmes, such as KS1&2 schools programme (facilitated by the Heritage Learning Assistant); the commissioning of the annual Black History Schools programme and coordinating the newly formed Community Panel and identifying potential community applicants for future community exhibitions. Ambitions are to develop new programmes for under 5s that are inclusive, fun, and engaging that lay the foundation for a positive and lifelong relationship with the museum.

Hackney Museum is a significant front line provision for the wider Culture & Heritage service, located alongside Libraries, to deliver cultural learning opportunities. You will be working in a highly motivated team at Hackney Museum consisting of the Museum Manager, Museum Officer and Museum [front of house] Assistants; where your personal  development is encouraged. You will line-manage the Heritage Learning Assistant and motivate and supervise volunteers to help deliver programmes.
