This is an exciting opportunity to become an apprentice in Public Health.
This is a three-year apprenticeship to support the post holder to develop as a public health practitioner, through a combination of academic study and work-based learning. You will earn while you learn and develop to the standard required for registration as a Public Health Practitioner with the UK Public Health Register (UKPHR), primarily through placements with the Public Health Team. As well as working in the Public Health Team, you may undertake a variety of placements with other teams over the three years. Placements will typically last from 3-9 months and entail a significant level of responsibility or impact. Some placements may be compulsory and prioritised by senior management, others will be chosen in discussion between the individual and their supervisor.
Please be aware that this apprenticeship will be delivered in partnership with University of East London.
You will spend at least 6 hrs per week of your employed time completing training & learning activities to complete the Public health (Integrated Degree) Level 6 Apprenticeship Standard.
You will also have access to regular apprenticeship development, networking & progression workshops.
For this position, you must already have both of the following:
-Already hold at least a Level 2 or GCSE A*-C / 4-9 in Maths and English
AND
– At least two A-levels or an equivalent qualification at level 3 in any subjects
If you do not hold a Level 3 but you do have a minimum of 2 years of demonstrable equivalent experience working within a public health role then your application will still be considered.
You will not be eligible for the apprenticeship if you already hold a qualification in Public Health at Level 6 or higher.
We have additional set criteria for eligibility for our apprenticeship positions.
You must have at least one of the below links to the borough:
– You are a current resident of the London Borough of Hackney
– You are a current student at a Hackney education institution (school, college, university, PRU/alternative provision, Adult Learning provision)
– You are a former student at a Hackney secondary education institution and completed at least one GCSE or equivalent Level 2 qualification there
– You are a current or former recipient of Hackney leaving care services.
NB – we will ask for proof of your link to the borough
(e.g. proof of address, school/college registration/certificates)
You must be able to evidence that you meet the eligibility criteria – please ensure that you have read the eligibility criteria in the Job Description & Person Specification.
You will not be eligible if you cannot provide this evidence.
Other relevant information: This is a fixed-term Apprenticeship, with the equivalent of 6 hours of your working week allowed for training.
