Hackney is one of the most dynamic and progressive local authorities in the UK. We are a resilient, vibrant, and creative borough in the heart of London, with strong, diverse communities and a powerful set of shared values.
Hackney Council is seeking a dynamic and motivated planning professional to join its award-winning Planning Service, in our Delivery Team. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who wishes to further their career in planning.
As a Senior CIL / Section 106 Officer, you will collaborate with partners across the Planning service and wider Council, to help us deliver infrastructure projects using planning obligations. This is an important role to help us ensure that development properly enhances growth in Hackney and supports our communities.
Hackney is London’s most diverse and dynamic borough. Stretching from the Square Mile to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, this is an area of rapid economic growth and yet has more green spaces than any other inner London borough. Our planning service plays an important part in making sure Hackney remains a great place to live, work and visit.
Day to day you will support the Planning Service with the monitoring, collection and distribution of CIL and monitoring of planning obligations. A key aspect of this role will be to drive relationships and outcomes with internal partners such as Streetscene, Housing, Hackney Light and Power and Regeneration. You will also provide advice to members of the public and work with external funding partners, developers and organisations. You will be expected to report effectively on your work to senior management and Members.
You will be a qualified town planner, ideally eligible for Royal Town Planning Institute membership, or a related degree holder with substantial work experience in the planning sector. A good understanding of the legislation relating to CIL and S106 and experience of monitoring and managing data is desirable.
To thrive in this role you will need to be able to engage diverse audiences in a variety of communication formats with both internal and external stakeholders. In this role there will be an opportunity to build on or gain experience of managing people, as you will be expected to help guide and supervise more junior members of staff within the team.
As a Council, our most outstanding asset is our staff, who are highly dedicated to serving our residents and committed to our goals as an organisation.
