You will provide essential organisational and administrative support to senior managers within the Planning and Building Control team, serving as the first point of contact for enquiries. Your responsibilities include coordinating administrative functions such as newsletters, meetings, and resolutions to complaints, ensuring the smooth running of team activities.

You will also organise and manage daily and forward work programs, prioritising commitments to ensure timely responses to enquiries and complaints. Other tasks include handling correspondence, preparing reports and briefing notes, and facilitating fiscal oversight. Additionally, you will contribute to disseminating the service’s achievements through publications and stakeholder events while ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation and Council policies.

We seek an individual who thrives in a dynamic team environment and possesses skills in diary management and correspondence handling with the mayor, councillors, and residents, as well as strong presentation abilities. You must be well organised, possess strong prioritisation skills, and consistently meet deadlines. Proficiency in IT cloud systems, particularly Google Suite, as well as council financial systems, is essential. Your experience in performance management, data analysis, and statistical report writing will be critical.

A strong understanding of administrative processes is essential, along with experience in supporting digitisation initiatives and IT innovation projects. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary for fostering relationships with stakeholders and enhancing team collaboration. Experience in organising service user forums and consultation events is crucial for promoting community engagement. Additionally, we will highly value knowledge of local government operations and project management experience.
