We’re currently recruiting a highly organised, motivated and experienced Area Cleaning Manager that will oversee and manage the cleaning operations across 8 secondary schools, including SEND, within the Hackney Borough.

As Area Cleaning Manager your primary focus is to assist in managing the operational day to day performance/standard with support from a dedicated Cleaning Supervisor at each school; as well as implementation and continuous review of strategy and processes across the services.

You will manage contract budgets, client requests and communications, ensuring the consistent delivery of high standards and excellent customer service. You will be a strong leader with good communication skills and will be used to dealing with clients face to face.

This role is full time, working 36 hours a week, Monday to Friday.

This role will be subject to a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, including a Children’s Barred List check.

Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • – Plan, organise and control cleaning operations within agreed budgets and timescales, ensuring staff are utilised to optimise efficiency and productivity.
  • – Continually improve operational elements, processes and procedures whilst ensuring professionalism and excellent standards at all times
  • – Coach, develop and mentor the Cleaning Supervisors to deliver brilliant
  • – cleaning standards
  • – Monitor and manage inventory of cleaning supplies, equipment and materials
  • – Manage budgets for cleaning supplies, equipment, and staffing
  • – HR processes including investigations, disciplinary and grievances
  • – Manage, support, and develop the cleaning teams to maintain service standards and adhere to Health & Safety policies and procedures, including COSHH.
  • – Train, develop and manage performance of the cleaning teams
  • – Motivate and lead the cleaning teams to achieve performance targets and goals
  • – Develop team rotas and related procedures for timekeeping, absences, holiday, sickness and payroll

 

The skills and experience required are:

  • – Experience in a similar role and service with the education sector
  • – Financial skills with experience in managing budgets and delivering targets
  • – Leadership skills with an ability to coach, develop and mentor their staff
  • – Process driven with the ability to flex and continually adapt and improve in line with customer and service requirements
  • – Good systems knowledge in basic IT applications
  • – The ability to develop robust relationships with team members and clients
  • – Able to prioritise effectively and demonstrate excellent time management skills
  • – Health & Safety awareness/training, including COSHH
