Hackney Council is looking for drivers to help support service users to access a wide range of community activities.  They will also transport service users to Oswald Street, day service which is a facility, opened in September 2018. This service provides a multi-disciplinary approach to supporting vulnerable adults. Our service users have a range of complex needs such as dementia, autism and learning disabilities.

The people who rely on this service have been involved in the building’s development from the outset. Helping design and name it, having their say on the facilities needed and giving their views on the overall look and feel of the place.

Hackney Council’s Adult Services are pioneers in bringing together care and support. Our focus is on creating resilient teams able to meet new challenges, while keeping those who rely on us at the heart of our work.

As a Driver/Support Assistant, you will transport our service users to and from Oswald Street and take them to lunch clubs and other activities within the wider community. This will involve helping service users who may have mobility issues to access the vehicle and be driven to and from venues, always working in a way that is respectful and promotes safety.

In between driving, you will support service users in their activities under the guidance of other staff, assisting in planning/supporting social and recreational activities as well as activities of daily living to promote their health and well being.

This is a great opportunity to get involved with an innovative day service. You must hold a clean D1 driving licence, up to date Certificate of Professional Competency and a valid driver’s tachograph card. You will work a 36 hour week, between 7.45am – 6pm, with occasional planned weekend or evening work.
