Hackney is one of Britain’s most exciting and fastest-changing boroughs. Hackney Council has changed the reputation, not just of the Council, but of Hackney itself. The challenges over the last two years have intensified the need for action, and we are determined to rebuild Hackney for and with our diverse communities.

The successful applicant will play a key role in the delivery of Employment, Skills and Adult Learning related manifesto commitments and wider council strategies. The post-holder will be responsible for taking the lead in various recruitment projects, to contribute to the daily operation of the job brokerage function; deputise for the Employment & Skills Brokerage Manager at various events and stakeholder meetings, and liaise with partners to ensure a seamless team and service delivery.

The successful applicant will work with colleagues across the council and external stakeholders, to drive the delivery of employment and skills-related objectives. The post-holder will take an active lead on working with partners to source local talent and match to live opportunities, and build an effective and purposeful talent pool. Additionally, the post-holder will lead on recruitment campaigns by working with internal Hiring Managers across the council and partner organisation Hiring Managers, to handle their recruitment needs.

The successful applicant will have proven experience of employer engagement and talent sourcing; be self-motivated; highly organised; able to prioritise well, with the ability to develop and maintain relationships with a wide range of people. A positive attitude is essential, as is a willingness to work autonomously and use creative mechanisms to overcome challenges.

This is an exciting time to join the team as we develop provisions to meet the emerging skills needs of disadvantaged residents and families; working closely with colleagues in Employment, Skills and Adult Learning and the wider council teams, to play a key part in achieving transformative outcomes for Hackney residents. This role is an opportunity to really make a difference in people’s lives and will be hugely rewarding to the right candidate.
