The Role

Hackney is one of Britain’s most exciting and fastest-changing boroughs. We have changed the reputation, not just of the Council, but of Hackney itself. The challenges that have arisen over the last two years have intensified the need for action, and we are determined to rebuild Hackney for and with our diverse communities.

We are looking for a 6-team Leader for our Care Quality Commission-regulated Housing with Care Scheme.

Housing with Care schemes provides housing that is primarily designed for people aged 55 plus who have both housing, support, and care needs. Registered landlords provide the accommodation, for which service users hold a tenancy to their flat, and the CQC-regulated care is provided by London Borough of Hackney staff.

Solutions-focused, enthusiastic, and passionate about good quality of care provision, you will assist the Scheme managers and supervise Care and support staff to ensure that services meet quality standards; meet regulatory, legislative, and council requirements; are innovative; empower service users; and are constantly developing.

You will need to be able to manage as well as motivate staff, and will directly supervise Care and support staff and lead and direct the Team working within and across a dispersed area. You will assist the Scheme Managers in providing clear leadership.

You will need to have excellent communication skills, an ability to build strong relationships and a professional demeanour that generates confidence.

This is a busy post, and tasks are varied. You will need to be able to prioritise and meet deadlines, at short notice and can switch from task to task to meet demands.

The Person

Whilst we value experience, you need to be committed to providing quality day opportunities to adults on the Autistic Spectrum and Learning Disabilities, while understanding the needs of Older People. You will need to evidence leadership qualities, flexibility, enthusiasm, initiative, and resilience, for what is often a very demanding but rewarding vocation.

You will be required to demonstrate your knowledge and experience to lead a very vibrant and demanding environment, whilst being able to initiate a range of educational, vocational, and recreational activities.

You will need to demonstrate you can manage, guide and motivate a staff team, ensuring anti-racism and inclusivity are embedded in your daily professional practice in the Provided Services.
