Disabled staff

“My managers, have been really supportive and proactive in making sure that specialised equipment or adaptations to support me around the office have been requested and processed. They have also been flexible around working arrangements which has allowed me to adapt  this to what works best for me and how I work.”

We welcome disabled people or those with health conditions to apply for roles at Hackney Council.

We support every employee to realise their full potential and are committed to creating a work environment which encourages disabled people to seek and stay working us. Workplace adjustments are encouraged to remove the barriers that otherwise create a disadvantage to disabled people, or those with health conditions or learning difficulties.

A Disability Confident employer

The Council is a Disability Confident employer. Jobcentre Plus runs the Disability Confident scheme on behalf of the Department for Work and pensions.

The accreditation is awarded to employers who can demonstrate their commitment to:

  • getting the right people – including a commitment to offering an interview to all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the job
  • keeping and developing our staff.
